Campus Pastor: The Rev. John David Larson
Email: Pastor Larson
About
the Pastor:
Pastor John Larson loves campus ministry. He believes it is as fun, as
engaging, as difficult and as rewarding as any of the ministries he has shared
during the past thirty years.
Besides campus ministry, Pastor Larson likes relaxing at home with his wife,
Linda, and with family and friends. Two children and three grandchildren live
within a half hour of the Larsons. Both Linda and John are pastors; Linda is
pastor of All Saints’ Lutheran Church next to Busch Campus in Piscataway. On
Fridays, their day off, both agree not to talk about any church-related issues!
John was born in 1945 in Mobridge, South Dakota, and grew up in Albuquerque, New
Mexico, where his mom still lives with his brother and family. Undergraduate
study was at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota; he received his M.Div. in
pastoral studies at Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, and his S.T.M. in
New Testament studies at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. His
ministries have been in Chicago, Illinois, and in New Jersey in Bayonne,
Cresskill, and New Brunswick. With parish ministry he has also taught courses
for Rutgers University, Upsala College, and Lutheran Theological Seminary in
Philadelphia, and has been a consultant for the Translation Department of the
American Bible Society. He is a member of the Society of the Holy Trinity and
the Society of Biblical Literature.
